Allspan Installs Event Tents and temporary structures for Macmillan Tug of War

Yet again Allspan’s event tents and temporary structures played a significant role in the annual Macmillan Tug of War at London’s famous Westminster Abbey on 16th May 2017.

Each year Macmillan hosts one of the most fun and challenging Tug of War contests London has to offer. Now in its 31st year, the contest has become an iconic tradition between the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

Throughout the 2017 contest, guests enjoyed a champagne reception and welcomed their host, the hysterical Rufus Hound. This was Hound’s first Tug of War, but he proved to be a popular asset.

Fortunately, the rain held off throughout the evening, but as we all know the English weather can prove unpredictable! For occasions such as these, there is a requirement for some sort of shelter – either to provide shade from the sun, or cover from the rain. For the Macmillan Tug of War event, Allspan was once again invited to install its event tents and temporary structures.

The temporary structures play a crucial role in the event’s layout, with a row of four carefully positioned 6m x 6m Oriental Pagodas providing the main spectator’s area for the tug of war arena on one side and a temporary bar on the other, all within the beautiful grounds of Westminster Abbey’s College Gardens.

Not only do the temporary structures offer a practical solution – come rain or shine – they can also help to create that traditional English-garden-party feel. At Allspan, our temporary structures are favoured by professional event organisers and exclusive venues, as they are impeccably cleaned, maintained and installed, thus ensuring your event always looks stunning.

This was certainly demonstrated at the Macmillan Tug of War and at numerous other well-known events that we are involved with throughout the year, including the Brit Awards, Clerkenwell Design Week, Goodwood Festival of Speed and Westminster Abbey’s summer events.

For these events, as well as the Macmillan Tug of War, it is essential that everything is perfect to appeal to high profile professionals and sponsors alike. This year, the event attracted renowned sponsors, including BAE Systems, M&S and ABP. The full fundraising efforts saw the 2017 Macmillan Tug of War raise (to-date) in excess of £90,500.
